Welcome to ISIPP United States
Welcome to the United States destination track of ISIPP.
This training is designed for students travelling to the United States for study. It will help you understand what the US expects from you as an international student and what you should expect from life and study in the United States.
By the end of this training, you should understand:
- your F-1 or relevant student visa responsibilities
- your legal work limits and restrictions
- the real cost of living in the US
- what US universities expect academically
- how to access medical help through your school or insurance network
- how to stay safe and avoid scams
- how to behave respectfully in a different social and cultural environment
- how to think about post-study planning lawfully
In the United States, F-1 students are generally limited to 20 hours a week while school is in session for permitted work. Standard post-completion OPT is generally 12 months, eligible STEM graduates may receive a 24-month extension, and F-1 students usually have a 60-day grace period after completion or after post-completion OPT ends.
