Welcome to ISIPP Europe
Welcome to the Europe destination track of ISIPP.
This training is designed for students travelling to Europe for study. It will help you understand what Europe may expect from you as an international student, while also reminding you that Europe is not one single immigration or university system.
This section provides guidance for major destinations including:
- Germany
- France
- Ireland
- The Netherlands
Students must always follow the rules of their exact destination country.
By the end of this training, you should understand:
- your likely visa and residence responsibilities
- work limits and country differences
- the real cost of living in different European destinations
- what many European universities expect academically
- how healthcare may differ by country
- how to stay safe and avoid scams
- how to behave respectfully in different social and cultural environments
- how to think about post-study planning lawfully
Examples of current student work limits include:
- Germany: up to 140 full days or 280 half-days per year, or up to 20 hours a week during the lecture period
- France: up to 964 hours a year
- Ireland: up to 20 hours a week in term time and 40 hours a week during specified holiday periods
- Netherlands: generally up to 16 hours a week, or full-time in June, July, and August in relevant cases.
